Spreckels is a nice theater more used to ballets than, uh, whatever MMW is. :) all seating, only a handful of aisle dancers, even during the bumpin' 2nd set.

Opening space evolved into what i know had to be an uninvisible tune. i'm listening to our md recording vs the album, and i think it's TAKE ME NOWHERE, although it's different enough to make me wonder if i know what i'm talking about. :) so at about 9:20 into our recording, a stage light blows just as chris has been left to provide a solo transition to the next tune, which he acknowledges. (and so do i.. agh! stupid taper! stupid stupid!) what follows is a jam(?) very much in the uninvisible vibe, but i can't pick a song out of it. maybe it's a japanese-only track ;) at 18min, they start into an incredible version of TEN DOLLAR HIGH! this song has already grown nicely. at 28:18 the so-you-thought-we-couldn't-write-a-song-fatter-than-big-time PAPPY CHECK at 35:30 UNINVISIBLE at 43:00 WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN to close the 50min 1st set.

So a somewhat predictable setlist for the first, but no complaints here.. it was dark and, well, great! :) (what can you say?)

2nd set opens with BIG TIME ag.. we missed rec'ing the first 10 seconds.. d'oh. around 10min there's a perfectly smooth transition to WIGGLY'S WAY!!!! ahhh. around 22min TOY DANCING really got the cheerleaders in a small section off to the right of the crowd going. i'm sure they'll come out in the recording. and at 33:12, i doubted my hopeful guesses, but it was.. LIFEBLOOD chris took a solo out of this beginning at 45:40.. john kneeled down and hid behind his organs for a while during this before finally walking off-stage (as had the others) at 52:20 chris starts off SWAMP ROAD, the others rejoin, and i thought we were in the encore now.. i kept waiting for john to pick up the melodica. :) but he never did, and around 57:20 billy began jamming with p love. after about a minute p love cut out. john was giving billy the much love/props pointing as he again walked off-stage. billy started playing his kit w/mallets and snares disengaged (as he had opened the show), eventually moving over to the percussion table, and had the whole crowd at the edge of their seats for one part in particular.. great stage presence. then back to the kit for some cathartic mad release! his solo lasted until 67:13! when he dropped into FIRE. they started reeeeally slowing down fire until at 71min they dropped into SMOKE. at this point we realized the md was about to cut out, so we were secretly sending telepathic messages to the boys to make it the shortest version ever. i think they heard us.. but it was d'oh!! about 15 seconds too long. the md took 75min, then we switched discs to catch the last note fading out.. ha! ah well, you all know how the tune ends. :( nice I WANNA RIDE YOU encore to close out the show.

Sorry, it's definitly not Take Me Nowhere in there.. I still think it's some song. Following that is an early Bloody Oil.
